John 15;4-5 (KJV)
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Colossians 1;17-19 (KJV)
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;
A statement that we must agree upon before I go further:
The written word that you read, which is contained in the Bible, is alive. This living word is God; given by God, for man to write down and it brings joy, comfort, truth, and wisdom to those who read, study, and meditate upon it. Simply stated, the word of God is life.
We in agreement? Good. Let us proceed.
Today's encouragement is a bit hard, harsh, uncomfortable, prickly, whatever word you like to use to describe the poke of truth that comes at that exact moment you were trying to perfect your own set of plans. I, right off the top, think of myself as I entered Los Angeles back in 2002. All full of plans for success within the entertainment industry, yet God had His plan as well. Needless to say, because of this daily post to this blog, God's plan prevailed. And, that should be the end of this post; your encouragement has been given, but as we know there are probably a few parts within that text that has you a little bit aggrevated.
The first, 'without me ye can do nothing'. Yeah, that sometimes chaffes against by backside too. But, if you accept that God know all, and is in all (back to Colossians), then you have to reconcile within your heart and mind that if you set your life in such a manner to not place Christ before "all", by definition your plans WILL come to nothing. If I receive comment, I can go more indepth.
The second, and I giggle at this one because I succomb to it quite often. Catching myself brings joy for Christ being present, in my life, at all times. I am speaking of 'I am the vine, ye are the branches'. What do I succomb to and giggle about? The natural way us humans let our egos run out in front of us, upon the smallest amount of selfish adventure, and performs this victory dance of "all by myself" only to quickly have some incident occur which slaps us, HARD, with the Truth of you didn't do that on your own. Or, if we did perform and accomplish without Christ, like a branch separated from a vine, that thing quickly withers and dies. Wow! That kinda stings just writing it.
Lastly, this is all about your placement of self when laying out, fully, in faith that Christ is "all". Go over to Colossians, 'And he is the head of the body'. Paul, the writer of this epistle, makes sure to tell us that Christ, and only Christ (the use of the word 'the'), is leading you. Not only is he leading you, but he is leading all that is concerning you. Why oh why my Brother and Sister would you then turn to that mirror and begin to allow yourself to get caught up in the temporal amount of flesh which gazes back at you? Do you see, now, why I stated we must be agreement about God being all and up inside of this word? It is necessary for all of us, yes, me included: I do not get a pass just because I took a small amount of time to write down this presentation, to seriously understand that nothing will last without Christ's hand upon it.
Encouraging to the one who prayed, today. Aggrevating to the one who didn't think Christ was looking, today.
Holla.
